Privacy Policy

Urban Spirit Foundation follows the highest ethical standards in carrying out our mission. Your privacy is important to us. We value the trust of our contributors and recognize that maintaining this trust requires that we be transparent and accountable in how we treat the information that is shared with us.

During the course of our various programs and activities, we frequently gather personal information. Anyone from whom we collect such information should expect that it will be carefully protected and that it is used for the purposes which it is collected. You have the right to request that your name and other information not be used publicly.

Defining Personal Information
Personal information is any information that can be used to distinguish, identify or contact a specific individual. Exceptions include business contact information and publicly available information such as name, address, and telephone numbers as published in telephone directories.

Where an individual uses his or her home contact information as business contact information as well, we consider such information not to be subject to protection as personal information.

Privacy Practices
Personal information gathered by us will be treated with respect. Our staff is authorized to access personal information based only on their need to deal with the information for the reasons for which it was obtained. Names, addresses, or other personal information collected by us will not be disclosed to any third party. We also take measures to ensure that the integrity of this information is maintained.

We collect, use and disclose personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in light of the circumstances. We routinely offer individuals we deal with the opportunity to opt not to have their information shared for purposes beyond those for which it was explicitly collected.

Your personal information will never be shared, traded, sold or used in any manner not explicitly approved by you. We do not swap mailing lists, share donor information or sell phone numbers.

What information do we collect?
During our working relationship we may collect some personal information. This may include your name, street and email addresses, phone and fax numbers and credit card information. We may also have a record of your donations and attendance at events. We may collect more detailed information from donors, prospective donors, Board members, volunteers and others. This may include, for example, the names of family members, business addresses and special interests, or birthdays.

When do we collect information?
Most of this information is collected when you make a donation or inquire about or programs and activities. It may come to us through your phone call, mail or email, or when you meet with our staff, board or volunteers. It may be provided by others suggesting that we contact you.

Why do we need your information?
We need this information to mail your charitable income tax receipts and other communications and to contact you about changes in our programs. We may communicate with you or send you information that we believe to be of interest to you, unless you request no communications.
